WEB3 WEEKLY RECAP | 17-21 NOVEMBER 2025

The transition from pilots to full-scale implementation is underway, and the implications are significant.

This week’s market developments highlight accelerating momentum for both stablecoins and CBDCs, signalling a shift from speculative activity toward real-world functional utility.

• China and UAE complete first cross-border digital currency payment (21 Nov 2025)

Recent announcements point to deeper integration between digital assets and the traditional finance ecosystem. At the market infrastructure level, Deutsche Börse introduced regulated stablecoins to enable simultaneous cash and securities settlement on a shared ledger – a notable step forward that will serve as the foundation for broader adoption of tokenised assets.

Cross-border activity continues to advance. African digital trade platforms are now using stablecoins to streamline international payments, while CBDCs supported the first cross-border transaction on the mBridge network between China and the UAE.

As digital assets move further into the financial mainstream, a wider range of practical use cases is expected to emerge.
