BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Benjamin Quinlan is the CEO and Managing Partner of Quinlan & Associates. He is also the Chairman of the FinTech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK), an Adjunct Professor at the AIT School of Management, a Conference Ambassador for the Hong Kong Tourism Board, sits on the Advisory Committee for Hong Kong Science and Technology Park’s (HKSTP) Technology Validation Initiative, and is a member of the Asian Financial Forum Steering Committee for the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC). In addition, he is a Senior Advisor for a number of leading startups, a Mentor for PingAn’s Cloud Accelerator, a Guest Contributor for eFinancialCareers and Regulation Asia, and was named as one of Lattice 80’s top 50 FinTech influencers in Hong Kong.

Benjamin has an extensive track record advising many of the world’s leading multinational companies, financial services organisations, SMEs and start-ups on a variety of high-profile strategic engagements. He is quoted extensively in the global financial press and is frequently interviewed by leading media outlets, including Bloomberg, CNBC, Reuters, and Channel New Asia. He is also a regular keynote speaker at leading financial services industry conferences across the world.

Prior to founding Quinlan & Associates, Benjamin was the Head of Strategy for Deutsche Bank AG’s Equities business in Asia Pacific and its Investment Bank in Greater China and sat on a number of the bank’s global and regional executive committees. He was also the global strategy lead for several of Deutsche Bank’s landmark projects executed out of London and New York.

Prior to Deutsche Bank, Benjamin worked as a Management Consultant at Oliver Wyman, a leading international strategy consulting firm. As part of the firm’s Corporate & Institutional Banking practice, Benjamin advised a variety of global and regional financial institutions on a range of strategic matters. He was also actively involved in the firm’s thought leadership publications and was widely regarded as one of Oliver Wyman’s global subject matter experts in investment banking and capital markets strategy.

Before joining Oliver Wyman, Benjamin worked at UBS AG in the bank’s Asia Pacific Client Coverage and Group Strategy departments, reporting into the regional President and CEO. He began his career in M&A and Capital Markets Advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Sydney.

EDUCATION

Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a First-Class Honours Degree in Economics (on scholarship) from Macquarie University, Sydney.

Yvette Kwan is the COO and a Partner at Quinlan & Associates.

Yvette has extensive experience advising global banks on major strategic and operational issues, including governance and multi-stakeholder management. Prior to joining Quinlan & Associates, Yvette was the Regional Operating Officer (COO) for UBS AG’s Corporate Client Solutions division in Asia Pacific, which included UBS’s Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and Financing Solutions businesses, including its China onshore securities JV.

Prior to that, Yvette worked in UBS’s Group Strategy and M&A departments in Hong Kong, Zurich, and Sydney. She also worked in the Greater China and Corporate Finance team at Credit Suisse First Boston in Hong Kong.  Yvette began her career in Emerging Business Services and Corporate Tax at PwC in Sydney.

EDUCATION

Yvette graduated with merit from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance, and is a Chartered Accountant.  She also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Marcus Consolini is a Partner at Quinlan & Associates.

Marcus has over 25 years of experience in financial technology, investment banking, alternative asset management, and consulting, the majority of which was spent in Asia.

Prior to joining Quinlan & Associates, Marcus developed and managed alternative asset strategies for private investors in Asia.  He was also the Asian Head of Trading, Electronic Execution, and Cross-Asset Execution for the likes of JPMorgan, Macquarie Group, and Societe Generale. At Macquarie, he launched and managed their award winning DMA/Algorithmic Trading platform, while also acting as the Global Head of Account Management and Corporate Access.

In addition to his investment banking career, Marcus has been a pioneer and champion in the trading technology space as the Head of Asia for Ullink (now ITIVITI), SWIFT’s first Pre-Trade/Trade Division Global Head and the Co-Founder/COO/CRO of Tigerex Trading System (Asia’s first Electronic Trading platform sponsored by the ASX). Before this, he worked on Wall Street as American Express Consulting Group’s Head of E-Commerce. Marcus began his career at Deloitte & Touché in New York.

Marcus was one of the founders and later Co-Chair of the Asian FIX (FPL) community and is a global industry speaker on Electronic Execution and Financial Technology.

Outside of his financial services career, Marcus is a Board Member of the Sake Brewers Association of North America, a member of the Osaka Sake Brewers Association (Japan), and has been recognised as the first-ever non-Japanese CEO of a Japanese Sake Brewery, Daimon Brewery. Japanese Sake and culture remain one of Marcus’ personal passions.

EDUCATION

Marcus holds a Masters degree in Finance and Operations from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Analytical Statistics from Lehigh University, and has served with distinction as an Officer in the United States Army.

David Rogers is a Partner at Quinlan & Associates.

David has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, holding senior trading roles with leading global buy and sell-side institutions.

Prior to joining Quinlan & Associates, David founded 23rd Parallel Consulting, where he advised a number of buy-side firms and brokers on various strategic and operational initiatives. Before establishing 23rd Parallel, David was the APAC Head of Trading for State Street Global Advisors, where he oversaw Fixed Income, Equity, Currency, and Derivatives execution. Prior to his role at State Street, David was responsible for electronic trading, TCA, market structure, and platforms at Fidelity Management & Research. Before this, he was the Head of Asia Portfolio Sales and Trading at Deutsche and the Head of APAC Portfolio Trading at UBS. David began his career at Goldman Sachs in London and has also completed an internship with Williams’ Formula One team in the U.K..

David is a regular speaker / moderator at industry events, including Asia Trader Forum and the FIX Conference. He is also part of the Hong Kong Board of global literacy programme WGI, a participant in The Women’s Foundation Male Allies Programme, a member of the Women In Finance Asia Advisory, and an early-stage investor in various FinTech start-ups.

EDUCATION

David graduated from the University of Reading with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds an MSc in Automotive Design from Cranfield University.

Michael Campion is a Partner and Head of Corporate Training at Quinlan & Associates.

Prior to joining Quinlan & Associates, Michael spent 9 years performing on stage as a speaker and emcee, regularly invited to speak in front of audiences of 500+. He has shared the stage with numerous CEOs and celebrities on behalf of blue chip corporates, schools and not-for-profits. A natural communicator, Michael is passionate about unlocking human potential through intelligent coaching and training.

Earlier in his career, Michael worked in global banking and markets at Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh. He subsequently played full-time professional football for several seasons, gaining highly transferable principles and valuable insights from the world of elite sport.

Michael has extensive media experience, having been interviewed live by BBC World, SCMP, RTHK, and worked on live TV as a sports commentator. He also hosts his own business and self-help podcast, ‘Playing The Inner Game’, which ranks among Apple’s top shows.

Michael holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Edinburgh Business School. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from The University of Durham.

Hugo Cheng is an Engagement Manager at Quinlan & Associates. Hugo is also a guest contributor for Regulation Asia.

At Quinlan & Associates, Hugo has engaged with many financial institutions and boutique firms on a host of strategic topics, ranging from international market entry to digital transformation. He has also advised and guided a number of SMEs and start-ups through their growth journey, assisting them in developing strategies to drive rapid and profitable scaling.

In addition, Hugo has co-authored several research reports, leading discussions in several financial industry hot topics, such as alternative data, blockchain & cryptocurrencies, digital transformation, and China market entry. Furthermore, Hugo has been quoted by leading media outlets and financial press, including SCMP and China Daily.

Prior to joining Quinlan & Associates, Hugo interned at DBS, eHarmony (focusing on the Internet of Things and Big Data), and at a fashion distribution startup.

Hugo holds a Master’s in Management (Distinction) from Imperial College Business School and an MA in Mathematics from University of Cambridge.

Justin Chung is an Associate at Quinlan & Associates.

Before joining Quinlan & Associates, Justin specialised in data analytics and data management at JPMorgan, where he engaged in strategic initiatives and change management projects across Asia Pacific. He was also the Vice President for a fast-growing blockchain advisory start-up that was recognised by InvestHK, where he headed corporate structuring and business development.

Before his professional experience, he completed national service in the Republic of Korea Navy, where he was deployed to the Philippines for a rehabilitation mission after Typhoon Yolanda and to Somalia as part of CTF-151, an anti-piracy task force of the United Nations.

Justin holds a First Class Honours Degree in Global Business from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Eashan Trehan is a Senior Consultant at Quinlan & Associates.

He is also an Academic and Career Advisor at St. John’s College, University of Hong Kong (HKU). Prior to joining Quinlan & Associates, Eashan interned at J.P. Morgan, in the investment solutions division where he researched multi-asset investment opportunities. He also interned at Deutsche Bank across credit risk, internal finance and business management.

Eashan was the Head of Finance and Technology at student-led Eureka Consulting Group (ECG), where he completed various consulting projects for MNCs and Asian firms.

EDUCATION

Eashan holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Honours), with a double major in Finance and Computer Science from University of Hong Kong (HKU).

BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Kaynat Akhtar is a Business Development Associate at Quinlan & Associates.

Kaynat is responsible for identifying opportunities to support all aspects of the business development process. Before joining Quinlan & Associates, Kaynat worked at a global financial derivatives brokerage firm where she was responsible for business development strategy and in advising clients on financial various products, including equities, indices and commodities. She also completed an overseas internship in Spain at a boutique B2B fashion retailer, where she was in charge of social media strategy and handling overseas clients.

Kaynat graduated from Lingnan University with a Bachelors degree of Business Administration (Honours) majoring in Finance and minoring in Marketing.

Vippy Wong is a Subject Matter Expert at Quinlan & Associates.

Vippy has extensive experience in financial services, having spent over a decade in investment banks, exchanges, technology providers and management consultancies. Most recently, she was a Director in the Industry Solutions team at Thomson Reuters, where she was responsible for identifying, developing and executing new, innovative ventures and businesses across the Financial & Risk sector.

Prior to Thomson Reuters, she was a founding member of a new commodities exchange in Hong Kong, where she was involved in all aspects of launching the trading venue with a focus on business development, and sales and marketing.

Vippy has held various positions in principal investments, corporate finance, strategy and management consulting in Hong Kong and New York. She covered mergers & acquisitions, capital raising, and principal investments as a TMT investment banker and equity investor at ABN Amro. As a management consultant at Oliver Wyman, Vippy has advised a number of global and Asia based financial institutions including wealth managers, insurers, and custody banks.

EDUCATION

Vippy has an Executive MBA from EMBA-Global Asia, a joint program between Columbia Business School, University of Hong Kong, and London Business School. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University, majoring in Operations Research & Financial Engineering, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Jong Lee is a Subject Matter Expert at Quinlan & Associates.

Jong is the Chairman and Managing Director of RGL Holdings, Ltd, a privately-owned venture capital fund. His areas of focus in Hong Kong include over a dozen early stage technology companies, social enterprises, education initiatives and business turnarounds.

Jong’s 20 years of enterprise and multinational experience in the US and across Asia ranges from leveraged buyout transactions for leading private equity firms including KKR and Blackstone, strategic advisory for and joint ventures with Fortune 500 companies and turnarounds and restructurings for both private and publicly listed businesses. His various corporate roles include: CEO of Hanson Robotics; COO for Linmark Group, a leading supply chain management company; Managing Partner or PineRidge Partners K.K., a private equity turnaround fund; Vice President at H&Q Asia Pacific, a leading regional private equity fund; an Associate Director in technology investment banking at UBS AG; and an M&A and capital markets lawyer at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York.

Outside of his corporate career, Jong is co-curator of TEDxHongKong and TEDxHongKongEducation, teaches business reinvention at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, regularly lectures at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Hong Kong University and served on the Intellectual Property Trading Working Committee for the Hong Kong Government. Jong speaks around the world on a range of social entrepreneurship, reinvention and innovation topics, including at the Nobel Laureates Symposium (Hong Kong), the Russian Economic Forum and the Wall Street Journal.

Jong earned his Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, an honors graduate of the Parker School of International Law and founding Editor in Chief of the Columbia Law School Journal of Asian Law. He graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with degrees in Bioengineering and Political Science.

Evan Schnidman is a Subject Matter Expert at Quinlan & Associates.

Evan is the Founder and Managing Partner of EAS Innovation Consulting, a boutique data and technology consulting firm. His expertise in data science and technology strategy have allowed Evan to work with both large corporations and emerging startups, especially in finance, insurance and legal technology. His vast network in and around financial services was developed while building his own startup from academic idea to successful exit.

Prior to EAS Innovation Consulting, Evan was the Founder and CEO of Prattle, as well as the Head of Data Innovation at Liquidnet. Launched in 2014, Prattle is a financial research automation company that analyses the content of market-moving communications from central banks, corporations and regulators generating both tradable data and automated research reports. In early 2019 Prattle was acquired by Liquidnet as part of an initiative to build a global investment network. Evan remained with Prattle as part of Liquidnet serving as both the CEO of Prattle and the Head of Data Innovation for Liquidnet until April 2020.

Prior to founding Prattle, Evan was a noted academic. He was faculty at Brown University and is widely published in finance, economics, political economy, game theory and public policy.

Evan holds a Ph.D. in Political Economy from Harvard University, an MPA in Political Economy from Washington University in St. Louis, and a BA (graduating Summa Cum Laude) from Washington University in St. Louis.

Louisa Robb is a Subject Matter Expert at Quinlan & Associates.

Louisa is the Founder and Managing Director of Lucella, a professional coaching and consulting firm based in Switzerland. In recent years she has worked with a number of major international organisations, including investment banks and insurance companies, on projects including the deployment of organisational development tools, executive development and coaching, as well as people and business strategy.

Prior to founding Lucella, Louisa was a Managing Director and Global Chief Operating Officer for UBS AG’s Legal & Compliance Department, overseeing a team of 1,800 professionals. Before taking up that role she was Managing Director and Head of Strategy for UBS in Asia Pacific, responsible for the bank’s overall growth and performance improvement initiatives in the region. She transitioned into this role from the Group Strategy team in Zurich, where she helped to drive UBS’s market entry efforts into China.

Louisa began her financial services career working in a variety of roles for Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets, Prebon Yamane and Baillieu Webb & Associates in Hong Kong.

Louisa holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Economics and Finance) from the University of Melbourne.

Bruce Salzer is a Subject Matter Expert at Quinlan & Associates.

Bruce is a proven business leader with an accomplished background across the United States, Japan and Hong Kong in sophisticated international financial services with experience and interest in CSR / charity fundraising. He brings with him particular skills in client relationship development, CRM, as well as creative and innovative business marketing and project management to achieve sustainable leadership positions.

Bruce was previously a Managing Director and Head of Corporate Access & Client Management (Asia Pacific) for Jeffries, where he led all aspects of corporate access, including non-deal roadshows, corporate access events, investor tours, site visits, and flagship large conferences throughout the region.  He also managed the equity business’ CRM efforts, including assessing client wallet, resource consumption, and client penetration, as well as its marketing and investor client relationship programs.

Prior to Jeffries, Bruce was the Head of Corporate Access (Asia Pacific) for Standard Chartered and the Head of Corporate Access (Asia ex Japan) at J.P. Morgan. Prior to his banking career, Bruce worked as a Director at S&P and a Director at the Texas General Land Office, where he directed the management of a USD 700 million fixed-income investment portfolio.

Bruce joined Global Philanthropic in July 2015 as Chairman Asia (Non-Executive). Global Philanthropic, now based in London, was founded in 2002 out of a commitment to spreading the power of philanthropy as a transformative force for good. The organisation works with non-profits and philanthropists around the world to help them fulfill their visions and dreams for a better world for all of us.

Bruce holds an MBA (Finance & Marketing) from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA (Economics & Business) from Vanderbilt University.

BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Edmund Price is a Subject Matter Expert at Quinlan & Associates.

Edmund has over 25 years of experience in investment banking, financial advisory, and corporate strategy. Over the last 5 years, Edmund has consulted to private corporates on financial and business planning, business development and general operations. He was also a Senior Advisor and Head of Financial Institutions at boutique investment bank, BDA Partners.

Prior to this, Edmund was a Managing Director of Financial Institutions Group Asia at Macquarie Capital Advisers. Before his role at Macquarie, Edmund was a Managing Director of Financial Institutions Group Asia at UBS, preceded by his role as Assistant Director at Jardine Fleming Securities. He began his career as a Manager at Barclays de Zoete Wedd (now Barclays Investment Bank).

Edmund is also a fellow of the UK Securities Institute, and a Founding Member of the Hong Kong Securities Institute. Edmund was previously licensed with the Securities and Futures Commission, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

EDUCATION

Edmund holds a MFA in Creative Writing from the City University of Hong Kong, a MSc Finance from London Business School, and a MA Modern History from University of Oxford.
